The fabric for this cushion cover is traditionally crafted on manual looms. The organization in El Salvador was founded in 1974 and has since organized the production and distribution of traditional Salvadoran handicrafts, with a focus on hammocks and matching accessories. Currently, the organization supports approximately 30 workshops with a total of about 200 producers. The weaving groups live outside the capital in some remote regions of El Salvador. Exporsal supports them locally, thereby preventing rural exodus and family separation. The artisans receive interest-free loans for the purchase of tools and for other measures to improve working conditions. The children of the producers receive free educational materials until they complete their high school diploma. Furthermore, since 2004, the organization has annually awarded four scholarships to particularly dedicated students.
